Ideas for Triptychs in Metal

a friend and I were coming up with some ideas for a large wall display for her newly remodeled home, and I found this idea exciting so I am sharing some of the grouping ideas with you to show the many possibilities available with Metal, Canvas and Thin Wrap style images.  They also turn out to be cheaper for wall space covered than one large image!

Stars and Meteors

Recently I managed to catch a shot or two of a Perseid Meteor, along with several other fun star shots with the Locust Grove Historic Church in Oregon.  Here are a few to share!

AND THEN FOR FUN and just because I can, it is MY blog, I am adding some older star shots on this post just for fun.  I have many more,  mostly unprocessed!

Osprey Guarding their nest

this week I spent some time close by an Osprey nest, and they were not too happy about that. One kept flying over me… and I could see a youngster in the nest still not quite ready to fly. Here are a few photos to share of that!

Be sure to check out the links in the sidebar for my books and my Print Gallery on Smugmug!  You can contact me on here, or at starlisa.may@gmail.com

My images are available to lease for web use, magazines, etc… and the favorite display items lately have been Metal Prints, Thin Wraps and Canvas Gallery Wraps, all  ready to hang, not requiring frames.  contact me directly for more information on those

Stormclouds

20130811-153532.jpg

On August 9, 2013, As one of the largest thunder storm I remember in our area kicked into high gear, this was how the sky looked from my driveway soon before the flaming sunset of the previous post or the lightning that continued after dark.
These are iPhone photos on this post.

When I looked East over our old house there was a rainbow over the house blessing my sister inside in her recliner. Soon after this shot our power went out. I heard the first strike of lightning land somewhere nearby, and later learned that a friend had watched it hit the hill just above their house in Bingen.

And if you are in the area of White Salmon, Washington, stop and enjoy the air conditioning at skyline hospital lobby while checking out my gallery show hanging there. Also take a look at the links in my sidebar to see my print collection on smug mug and information about my photo books

Thunderstorms of a wild sort

20130810-113340.jpg

August 9, 2013 the Cascades were rocked by a huge thunderstorm of the style you might see in the Midwest I think.
One of the first strikes hit the hill above Bingen, Washington not far from us. Sirens were going off everywhere and power went out. Rainbow and orange clouds and lightning and me dancing out there in the rain soaking wet!!! Up on the hill like a madwoman shooting the lightning. We had sheet Lightning, vertical strikes and many cloud to cloud sideways strikes.
The sky turned Brilliant orange, red and purple at sunset, and at least one person reports seeing a twister come out of the red sky towards Sleeping Beauty just SW of Mount Adams.

More will be coming later!
Also the Ranger at Bird Creek Meadows, Richard Canapo, says lightning hit a tree on Little Mount Adams but a hard rain appears to have put the fire out. So far so good.

Early this summer i was able to make a one day journey along the southern route through Mount Rainer National Park. The mountain hid her face most of the day, finally peeking through the clouds as I was on the last leg of the journey. Throughout the day, in mist and fog, I was entranced by the little roadside vignettes in green forest dress, and stopped many times to breathe in the rich air and absorb the beauty. Thank you for sharing it with me!

The next four are different shots of Narada Falls, which was nearly too large to catch with my 28 mm maximum size option.  The spray was so very intense it was  a struggle to get any shots at all of this falls, but it was a joy to stand there and feel the power of this mountain expressed through the tremendous glacial run off and snowmelt.

Ancient Cedars and other old growth trees abound in the park, and I love to meditate on the changing world this tree witnessed in its lifetime.

Thanks to the heavy moisture and rainfall of the western slopes of the Cascade Mountain Range in Washington and Oregon, the lush rich undergrowth of ferns and wildflowers and moss draped maples is legendary.

another roadside stop featured this lovely seasonal stream that created a waterfall over the roots of the ancient tree. Tree-Waterfall_MountRainer_7644
