Layers of Gorgeous

Taken earlier in December, this image represents my favorite view of the Gorge for the year.  I reprocessed a bit from the previous version and wanted to share it again.   Taken from the hills above White Salmon, Washington looking West down the Columbia River Gorge.

My new calendars will be around January 5-8, and most of this batch are spoken for.  I can order another batch if there are folks still wanting on the list.  Email me at to order, and the specific details and prices are on this page:   2015 Mount Adams and Gorge Calendars

Thanks for your visit!

The nature of truth:

How Nasrudin Created Truth

“Laws as such do not make people better” said Nasrudin to the King.  “They must practice certain things in order to become attuned to inner truth.  This form of truth resembles apparent truth only slightly.”

The King decided he could, and would, make people observe the truth.  He could make them practice truthfulness.

His city was entered by a bridge.  On this he built a gallows.  The following day, when the gates were opened at dawn, The Captain of the Guard was stationed with a squad of troops to examine all who entered.

An announcement was made:  “Everyone will be questioned.  If he tells the truth, he will be allowed to enter.  If he lies, he will be hanged.”

Nasrudin stepped forward.

“Where are you going?”

“I am on my way,”  said Nasrudin slowly,  “to be hanged.”

“We don’t believe you!”

“Very well, if I have told a lie, then hang me!”

“But if we hang you for lying, then we will have made what you said come true!”

“That’s right; now you know what the truth is…YOUR truth!”

May your hearts be filled with love and peace!

Columbia River Gorge National Scenic area sunset.

Alpenglow on the clouds after the actual sunset is often the prettiest color, and this evening was no exception!

Winter Cards Sale

I have a winter set of 5 x 7″ notecards available as random assortment or handpicked selection. These are printed directly as color copies of a PDF file, onto a glossy coverstock paper using a high quality printer, and were quite popular recently at the Trout Lake Christmas Bazaar!

I can take payment via paypal, debit/ credit, or check.

Include shipping and handling of $5 (or $7 for larger orders of 20 or more) and tax on Washington orders.

Two options:

1. Order a random set and I will pick out the number of cards you want for you ;
2. Give me a list of card numbers and how many of each in an email to (at) gmail (dot) com or on facebook message at . Include your email, and I can send you an invoice which you can pay with paypal, or credit/debit cards; or send a check to

Darlisa Black
P.O. Box 854,

White Salmon, WA, 98672

These cards have no writing inside, but on the back there is a fair amount of information on what and where, and in some cases a bit of history and other tidbits about our area. I intentionally left them as generic winter cards primarily because I have a wide range of friends and fans on many religious and non religious paths in life and I like to honor individual choice.

Snow and Ice day

It was a wild and fun ride to Trout Lake this morning to the Christmas bazaar, like old times when I lived up there and braved those snow covered roads daily all the way to White Salmon and back.  The bazaar was a success thanks to the folks from Trout Lake and Beyond, made some sales and lovely trades and had many good hugs and visits from old friends.  THank you Trout Lake!!!  Also I was invited to come join the Trout Lake Art Festival next year.

Brought some snow and ice back to share with you!

( ps; I am now taking presales for calendars which will be out in a couple weeks.  I will post a set of images as soon as I finish them)
