Magnificent Ice Formations

Weeping Wall drips with ice at Bonneville Hotsprings resort on February 5, 2014

A day at the Bonneville Hot Springs Resort with my friend Cheryl brought wonderful much-needed muscle relaxation, and photo opportunities before the visit to the resort.  This lovely weeping wall covered with ice caught my attention on the way in, and called for a pause for taking pictures.

Tonight in White Salmon we have 4-6 inches of snow and still coming down, so now the ice will be all covered with little caps of snow!  I must go do some shoveling now… sigh.  My sister has to get out for Dialysis in the morning, and cannot miss that.

Thanks for visiting… and if you are in the area during February or March you can come see my large photo display at North Shore Cafe at 166 E. Jewett White Salmon, WA 98672 right on the main street through town, highway 141.

My images are all my own, and are copyrighted.  Many of them when clicked on take you to the higher quality image on my SmugMug gallery where you can purchase prints.  For Metal or Canvas prints, use this contact form to email me, or for comments use the regular comment box at the bottom of the page.  I do licence images for many uses as well, just ask…  and see my About the Photographer page in the menu bar to the right.

Also I hope you come see my photo galleries at this link or explore the links in the sidebar for my thousands of images on Flickr, or come like my page on Facebook, and see the coffee table books  and calendars in my menu.

I have been adding and reorganizing my main photo gallery on SmugMug.  What do you think, does it flow well?  If you click on the photo above it will take you to a corresponding page in the Best Prints: Inspiring Light Gallery.  From there you can explore many more pages!  Many of these images are full of memories for me, driving somewhere at midnight to catch the Aurora, visiting friends, being late for work because of a rainbow… you get the idea.  I pour my heart and soul into my photography, and hope that the joy and awe present in that moment comes through in the image I create.

Prints can be purchased via the link above (the photo), but I also can create Metal Prints, Canvas Prints, Thin Wraps and Standouts.  I currently will be showing a 24×50″ triple panel image at local events.  For any of these, contact me directly at starlisa.black@gmail.com, via the links under each image, or via the contact form below to ask about printing any of the images on any of these mediums.

In the previous post you will see information about a local community Business Fair in White Salmon, WA.  This next photo will take you to that post.

This Triptych is being printed on Metal, and each panel is 16x24" in size, giving a combined wall size of 50x24". You can read more about the event this will be displayed at locally by clicking on this image.

Exciting upcoming Event in White Salmon!

2014 Business & Community Fair (1)

I confess to never really being  a community organizer type, spending more of my time out in the woods and mountains taking photos to share, but I am so impressed with the new lively and fun team of ladies running the Mt. Adams Chamber now that it is a joy to jump on board and help where I can.

You can see the information page on the Chamber website for this event here, just click on this sentence. and it will open a window in a new tab on your browser. There will be 28 local businesses represented, as well as great local food and raffle prizes!  Please come join us for a fun filled Thursday evening, you can get your dinner right there from local restaurants and food cart folks!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Starlisa Black Photography  will be set up there also with a display of the latest work, and  happy to meet more of you and talk local scenery.

Metal image Clusters, Splits, and Triptychs.

I revised the page about the Metal cluster wall displays. Please come check it out again and give me some feedback! Are there any particular images (they are all numbered) that jump out at you, and why? I plan to create one on metal when I save enough money, to use in Gallery shows so we can all see what they really look like on a wall. Metal prints are spectacular anyway, bringing out the light in the image, and they are known for lasting for generations.  Washable with windex and scratch resistant.

Currently I am hanging a show once more in North Shore Cafe in White Salmon, and also featuring a 30% off sale on metal prints during October.  Now is a good time to pick something up on metal!

email me at starlisa.black@gmail.com for more information.

Ideas for Triptychs in Metal

a friend and I were coming up with some ideas for a large wall display for her newly remodeled home, and I found this idea exciting so I am sharing some of the grouping ideas with you to show the many possibilities available with Metal, Canvas and Thin Wrap style images.  They also turn out to be cheaper for wall space covered than one large image!

Tip Toeing through the Tall Grass

There I was, sleeping on my lawn (in town) because the house is too hot, and early one morning I woke up suddenly to the sight of a deer walking by me about 7 feet away! Another Buck walked by on the other side, and they ate a bunch of plums off the ground from a tree near my head. I was entranced.  All I had with me was my iPhone, but I got what I could of the moment to share with you.

Also my show at Skyline Hospital in White Salmon is now on display in the main corridor, and it is peaceful and very cool in this entry area of the Hospital on a hot busy day

as well as more images down the hall into the old part of the hospital in the Visiting Doctors waiting room. Still more of my photographs hang in the North Shore Clinic  across the parking lot from the hospital.
Saturday Markets have started in Trout Lake, and I will be selling books, cards and some prints there. Please see my CONTACT and ABOUT page in the links to the right for more information.  To purchase prints and view more galleries click on that sunset rays image that says PURCHASE PRINTS 😉 HOWEVER if you wish Metal prints, you will get them cheaper than the SmugMug site if you go directly through me.

February Fire and New Photo Sites

February Fire

Sunset in the Columbia Gorge on 02/02/2013 from White Salmon, WA

I have been working hard on creating a SmugMug site.  At this point i have not paid to upgrade to Pro, and so I do not have a store enabled, but when I am ready to make that change it should be easy. At that point I will tie my website and SmugMug site together better, but meanwhile here is a PREVIEW OF MY SMUGMUG GALLERIES if you would like to come poke around.  It is still under construction, and feedback on design and ease of use is VERY WELCOME!

Meanwhile I have happy news, my Artist Reception at the White Salmon Library was an amazing success thanks to my many friends and family and a few random passersby.  There were 60-70 in attendance, and several people made print orders.  The show is still hanging until the last Saturday of March, and if you contact me I can try to meet you there!

Thanks everyone!
