Winter Cards Sale

I have a winter set of 5 x 7″ notecards available as random assortment or handpicked selection. These are printed directly as color copies of a PDF file, onto a glossy coverstock paper using a high quality printer, and were quite popular recently at the Trout Lake Christmas Bazaar!
PRICE: 10 pack with envelopes for $25 or 6 for $15
I can take payment via paypal, debit/ credit, or check.

Include shipping and handling of $5 (or $7 for larger orders of 20 or more) and tax on Washington orders.

Two options:

1. Order a random set and I will pick out the number of cards you want for you ;
2. Give me a list of card numbers and how many of each in an email to starlisa.black (at) gmail (dot) com or on facebook message at https://www.facebook.com/StarlisaBlack . Include your email, and I can send you an invoice which you can pay with paypal, or credit/debit cards; or send a check to

Darlisa Black
P.O. Box 854,

White Salmon, WA, 98672

These cards have no writing inside, but on the back there is a fair amount of information on what and where, and in some cases a bit of history and other tidbits about our area. I intentionally left them as generic winter cards primarily because I have a wide range of friends and fans on many religious and non religious paths in life and I like to honor individual choice.

Snow and Ice day

It was a wild and fun ride to Trout Lake this morning to the Christmas bazaar, like old times when I lived up there and braved those snow covered roads daily all the way to White Salmon and back.  The bazaar was a success thanks to the folks from Trout Lake and Beyond, made some sales and lovely trades and had many good hugs and visits from old friends.  THank you Trout Lake!!!  Also I was invited to come join the Trout Lake Art Festival next year.

Brought some snow and ice back to share with you!

( ps; I am now taking presales for calendars which will be out in a couple weeks.  I will post a set of images as soon as I finish them)

First Snow

starting November 13 in the morning with a drive to Husum and photos of the White Salmon River; a few shots along the way of orchards that still have many green leaves dusted in snow; photos of the White Salmon Post office around noon; and ending with a few photos taken November 14th in the morning in White Salmon, Washington.
These are images are unprocessed, other than resizing for web and the addition of my watermark.  They still have dust bunnies and all!  Later I will choose the best ones to process further and add to my website at    www.starlisa.net with my best photos.

Third day of shoveling, the snow has changed as temperatures warm above the low teens where they have been recently. Each shovelful is much more significant, and heavy. Above freezing for a while midday, it was much more pleasant also to walk around and enjoy the view. Most of these images are from today, I hope you enjoy.

High Speed Photography

As family and I traveled to Utah for a funeral,we drove through blizzards much of the way down, and then coming back 2 days later we had these lovely blue skies. I was a passenger in the back of the little Prius, (which is rare in my life), rolling down the window and shooting in both directions as we rolled along.  In Utah the speed limit is 80, so that was pretty high speed!  These images are all from the early hours of leaving Salt Lake and heading up into Idaho.

Memories Spin in a Gust of Wind

This first photo was taken by my bro Larry Andreasen, also known as bobshots on Flickr.  Kind and gentle soul, he captured a feeling of timelessness here that I love about the lake.

At times when the wind blows, it seems to pull me right out of my body and take me on a journey through life and time, as senses expand and tingle and scents from long ago drift by in full color.

Before I got seriously into photography in about 2007, I wrote.. pages and pages of emotional processing after losing loved ones, interspersed with descriptions of the beauty around me.  Tonight  the mood returned for a bit.  If you are only here for the photography, now is the time to close the page and return to browsing.

This photo below is from around 1994-96.  Looking at it now, and then looking in the mirror I am surprised at the difference.  I keep thinking of cutting my hair off once again like I did back then, but now it would be half gray, with many more lines and wrinkles in the face and each wrinkle with a story behind it.  As to the hair, I wonder if the curls would return if it was short again.  Mom’s were…her hair was so pretty and silver curling around her laughing face. and her wrinkles were soft and full of love.   Funny how time slowly erodes us away.  Back when this photo was taken 20 years ago (oh gosh is it really 20?)  I even cared more how I look… now i just dress guerilla style, rough and tough, ready to be out in all conditions at any moment.  Forget to brush my hair some days and my clothes don’t always match.  At least my socks still do!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I hear the wind whipping around outside tonight and feel the spirits dancing free, unhindered now by bodies that were failing. My mind seems to jump and spin as the clouds whip on by, and the moist air washes through my body as I breathe in deeply.  Perhaps if I step into that wind it might carry me far and wide to see the lands I dream of,  the friends I have only met online, and the places where the spirits dance and sing and pray to help guide us along our sometimes rocky way.

Peace be with you

always.
